Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of Gourds!

Being able to share my love of nature through my gourd art is something that has evolved over the years. Our Mother was a wonderful artist who specialized in pastels and oils on canvas, and while we never really "talked" about techniques, there was always some kind of art or craft going on. Sewing, needle work, gardening and decoupage were crafts that I picked up from my Grandmother at a young age as well.

So when my current day neighbor introduced me to her adorable gourd giraffes, I was hooked! She generously gave me some gourds from her stash and from the first little gourd that I cut open with an Exacto knife…my journey began. I joined the local Seminole Gourd Patch...yes, there are "patches" all across America. Check out the American Gourd Society's website for locations and meetings.

Each monthly meeting opened up new ideas and techniques that could be applied to these wonderful vessels. There were so many techniques that I loved doing it was difficult to decide which I liked best, and it became apparent that I wanted to do them ALL! (Smiley Face)
